27, 2013 Funeral services for Anita Mae Teehee, 70, of Bellefonte were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Bellefonte Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Stone officiating. Burial was at Bellefonte Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory- Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

Mrs. Teehee was born on May 31, 1943, in Tahlequah to Kie Coleman Sr. and Leona (Eagle) Coleman. She died on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Roland.

She was a homemaker. She married Nathaniel Teehee on July 14, 1996, in Stilwell. Survivors include her husband, Nathaniel of Bellefonte; one daughter, Dorothy L. Teehee of Bellefonte; two sons, Jeff Teehee of Bellefonte and Rick Teehee of Sallisaw; one sister, Vickey Denny of Roland; four brothers, Kie Coleman Jr. and Roy Coleman, both of Long and Curtis Coleman and Roger Coleman, both of Bellefonte; four grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.

31, 2013, at Sallisaw City Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Bias officiating under the direction of Agent Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Mrs. McHenry was born on Jan. 3, 1957, in Sallisaw to Dan Randall and Ruth Ann Cartwright Spencer.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker. She married Larry Henry McHenry on May 4, 1990, in Sallisaw. Survivors include her husband, Larry of the home; three sons, Lonnie McHenry of Sallisaw and Matthew McHenry and Adam McHenry, both of Tulsa; three sisters, Linda Lou James, Sheila Mae Long and Sherry Gail Spencer, all of Sallisaw; two brothers, Bobby Cartwright and Terry Spencer, both of Sallisaw; two grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James Dawes and Joseph Darrell Cartwright. Glennis Jandean Gomez Aug. 21, 1964-Dec. 22, 2013 Funeral services for Glennis Jandean Gomez, 49, of Eufaula were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec.

She died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in Eufaula. She was a paramedic. Survivors include one son, Johnny Gomez of Eufaula; her father, of Warner; three brothers, Jarrod Lee of Sallisaw, Jeff Lee of Gore and James Lee of Warner; and one sister, Danece Baker of Eufaula. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Gomez; her mother; and one brother, Jack Kidd.

CASC students may use portal to enroll Current Carl Albert State College (CASC) students will have portal access throughout the holiday break, and may enroll for the spring semester while school is out. Any students interested in taking interim courses, they are scheduled for the week of Jan. 6. Enrollment will be available beginning Jan. 6 at both Sallisaw and Poteau campuses, for all new and current students.

The spring semester begins on Jan. 15. CASC to host half marathon and 5K The annual Carl Albert State College (CASC) Vike Hike 5K has a new component this year, a half marathon has been added to the event, being held on March 29 on the Poteau campus. Both courses are USATF certified and race administrators are encouraging early registration. Registration is open until Jan.

15. Early registrants will be able to enter the marathon for $50 and the 5K for $25. All finishers will receive a medal and a shirt. Cherokee Nation earns accounting award For the 12th straight year, the Cherokee Nation was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. It is the highest honor given to governments for stellar financial reporting and accounting by the Government Finance Officers Association.

To earn the award, an audit of the 2012 financial operations and all its businesses and non-profit components were judged by an impartial panel to ensure it met the highest standards, including transparency. The Government Finance Officers Association has offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., and serves about 17,500 government professionals. this award speaks to the value of Cherokee Nation Treasurer Lacey Horn and the entire Financial Resources Department in ensuring we remain good stewards of Cherokee Principal Chief Bill John Baker, said. The Financial Resources Department not only oversees the operating budget, but also the accounting and maintenance of multiple federal grants, employee payroll and the purchasing department. Area students listed on Connors Honor Roll Several area students were named to the fall 2013 honor rolls at Connors State College, Warner.

Fire causes minor damage By DiAnnA F.

DAnDRiDGE The Vian Fire Department responded to a structure fire on East 1025 Road about 2 a.m. Monday. According to Vian Fire Chief, Ed Barton, the fire started when flames from a wood-burning fireplace ignited the chimney and ceiling. Barton said the homeowner had the fire almost extinguished by the time firefighters arrived. probably pumped 50 gallons of water on it.

The fire caused about $6,000 Barton said. Callison, Scott chosen Members of the Month Zoe Callison Marcus Scott Zoe Callison and Marcus Scott were chosen as November Members of the Month at the Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County, Gore unit. Callison is the daughter of Dustin Callison and the granddaughter of Tom and Dixie Callison. When asked what she thought when she was chosen, she said that she was happy. Her favorite club activity is outside activities.

She always participates in all activities, is kind to others and does a great job with her reading. Scott is the son of Rebecca Scott. When asked what he though when he was chosen, he giggled and giggled. His favorite club activity is HYLA (High Yield Learning Activities) because he gets to create things while learning. He is very helpful to his little sister and always participates in all activities and is a great listener.

Fraire, Graves chosen as Members of the Month Isabella Fraire and Timothy Graves were selected as the November Members of the Month at the Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County, Brushy unit. Fraire was chosen because she is the quietest member in her Power Hour class and she remains quiet when going down the hall to her next class. She always listens when the staff is talking. Graves was chosen because he answers with respect when called on by the staff, he has great manners, is always happy and kind to others. isabella Fraire Timothy Graves Harrison, Smith chosen Members of the Month Chloe Harrison (top left) and Taylor Smith (bottom left) were selected at the November Members of the Month at the Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County, Sallisaw unit.

Harrison, a first grader, is the daughter of Daron and Tina Harrison. She was chosen because she is helpful and always does what is asked of her. She never gets into trouble. Her favorite club activity is fun and fitness. Smith, a third grader, is the son of Billy and Cindi Smith.

He was chosen because he always does his homework, is nice and polite, and likes to help others. His favorite club activity is playing pool during game.
